BS7671 18TH EDITION UPDATE COURSE PASSED IN DECEMBER 2018

18TH EDITION BS7671

We passed the latest Edition of the wiring regulations, December 2018.

The some of main changes in the 18th Edition;

RCD protected circuits  up to 63 amp single phase, up from 32 amp single phase in the 17th Edition.

Surge Protection Devices for nationally important property and all buildings in areas with enhanced lightening strike rates. Especially prevalent in areas with high lightening strike rates such as Suffolk.

Arc detection devices within consumer units and distribution boards for buildings which are timber framed or at an enhanced risk of fire and any commercial buildings with enhanced fire risk.

Plastic trunking and conduit has extra regulations concerning entanglement of people with electric cable regarding fire within buildings and passageways. All plastic trunking needs to have metal inserts to hold cables in case of fire. Plastic conduit needs to be fixed with fire resistant fixings to walls and ceilings.

As you can see quite a lot of changes.
